Friendsgiving potluck
Assign the oven before assigning the menu. Ask the turkey volunteer to plan the carving time and send guests bringing sides a separate arrival window. Put ice and leftover containers on the board so friends without kitchen space can pitch in.

Planning a Thanksgiving potluck at work? For a 12-person lunch, start with a main for 12, two sides serving six each, a dozen rolls and a dessert cut into 12 portions. Give each contribution its own row. If the break room has one microwave, ask one volunteer to bring a chilled cranberry salad and another to bring rolls so everyone can eat during the same break. For an everyday office lunch, swap the holiday main for a sandwich platter. Include the room, serving time and a cleanup slot in the invitation.

Plan the buffet around kickoff. Send the room details in the invitation and have drinks and paper goods arrive with the setup volunteer. Keep a spot for halftime snacks so late arrivals can add their dishes without disturbing the game.

Give the turkey its own arrival window. Ask who will carve it, where the board will go and whether the gravy travels separately. Reserve a shelf for chilled eggnog before trays fill the refrigerator.

Plan around trick-or-treat departures. Offer a first serving before families leave and ask one volunteer to reset the table for returning guests. Keep dim lighting for decorations and give ingredient cards their own well-lit spot.

Set a spending limit before names are drawn. Keep recipient pairings outside the shared sheet so surprises stay private. Assign one person to the wrapping station and another to guide the exchange while the refreshments stay available.

Ask each cook to bring packaging or an ingredient list. The dessert row is a planning prompt and cannot establish that a recipe suits every guest. Invite guests to discuss their own needs privately with the cook before choosing a dish.
